 1. wonder if your manuscript really was ready? Maybe you should put this off till next year?

(But really, you know you would only tinker with the manuscript in the meantime and you have it on authority that the manuscript is what industry insiders call 'submissions ready')

Or

 2. did you speed through the warning, knowing 'I'm ready. This is the time'
