Hello, and welcome to my writers’ nook

I’m Claire Wingfield, literary consultant and UK-based editor of novels and non-fiction manuscripts. I also provide full book-production services, assisting self-publishers: from editing, typesetting, project management to all the technical backend work that comes with publishing a book.

Authors can contact me for support and advice when needed, or hand over the full book-publishing project whilst getting on with writing the next book, safe in the knowledge I’ll give each book the time and attention it deserves, whilst making sure the publishing strategy is as effective, efficient and enjoyable as possible.

For writers just starting out, I offer a flexible mentoring service and editorial support as needed. My writers know I can talk about books for many hours; this website is my cosy corner of the internet, where I’ll share as much as I can from my life working with books. All the writing and publishing tips and tricks gleaned from more than 20 years working with books and writers, complete with author interviews and publishing case studies. If you have comments or questions on the craft of writing or the book publishing industry, including routes to publication, or would like to work together, please get in touch.

Happy writing!

Expert Help for Writers

The Claire Wingfield Editorial & Literary Consultancy provides professional support to writers in the UK and beyond who plan to self-publish or are looking for a traditional publisher and agent. Services include reader reports, mentoring, editing and professional typesetting and book production services. I have a network of publishing industry professionals to assist with projects where necessary – including illustrators and book-design specialists, though your point of contact will always be myself and I undertake all editorial and literary consultancy work.

Professional Manuscript Appraisal

For many new writers, the reader report service is a useful first stop. The manuscript assessment provides written professional feedback on all aspects of a draft, so you can see what's already working and where improvements can be made.

In my work as literary consultant and editor, I work on a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction manuscripts, from first to final draft, helping writers with a wide range of goals and ambitions – from honing writing craft, to submitting to agents or publishers, or planning for successful self-publishing.
